ATLAS

ATLAS

4 out of 5 stars
You don’t just walk into ATLAS – you make a grand entrance here. Set within the lobby of Parkview Square in Bugis – also known as Singapore’s ‘Gotham Building’  – ATLAS looks straight out of The Great Gatsby, with all soaring ceilings, gleaming gold, and that iconic eight-metre gin tower rising dramatically at the heart of the space, glinting with over 1,300 bottles of juniper spirit from around the world. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to swap your sneakers for something shiny and order a martini, stirred with a little bit of magic. Since opening in 2017, ATLAS has become a name every serious cocktail lover knows. It’s consistently ranked among The World’s 50 Best Bars, and bagged top honours like Tatler Asia’s Best Design Award and the Rémy Martin Legend of the List Award. But despite all the glitz and glam, ATLAS isn’t the kind of bar that turns up its nose. It’s elegant, yes, but always warm, welcoming and just the right amount of extra. Plus, it's easy to have a conversation with the bar team here. Simply tell them the types of gin you enjoy or the flavour profile of drinks you prefer, and they'll make a suitable recommendation, so you can leave out all the guesswork as you admire the super impressive gin collection. But if there’s one drink you need to try, it’s the ATLAS Martini. This suave mix of the bar’s own ATLAS London Dry Gin, vermouth, orange bitters and champagne vinegar will have even the most seasoned martini drinkers weak at the knees – crisp, co

I stayed at the new Colugo Camp in Singapore – and it’s the wildest staycation yet

When I was staying at the swanky new Mandai Rainforest Resort, I couldn’t help but notice its humbler, wood-panelled neighbour across the way – a cluster of glamping-style tents with a sign that read “Opening soon.” Naturally, curiosity got the better of me. A few months later, I finally found myself unzipping my tent flap at Singapore’s newest sleepover spot in the wild.  Opened on August 8 this year, Colugo Camp is Mandai Wildlife Reserve’s latest stay-and-play experience – a permanent eco-campsite sitting in the eastern cluster near Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, and River Wonders. Here, you’ll find safari-style tents, hearty buffets, guided wildlife encounters, and yes, the chance to wake up to deer grazing beneath your deck.   Photograph: Cam Khalid Why stay at Colugo Camp?  Because this isn’t just glamping – it’s glamping with purpose. The camp blends comfort with conservation, encouraging guests to be mindful of the wildlife they share the space with. With only 20 tents – each fitting up to four guests – it feels intimate yet social, like the grown-up version of your favourite school camp.  Every stay includes access to three major parks, including Singapore Zoo, River Wonders, and Night Safari, complete with a VIP experience and guided tours. Oh, and did I mention the staff are absolute gems? Warm, funny, and full of fun facts – the kind of campmates you’d want to swap stories with.   Photograph: Mandai Wildlife Group   What are the tents like at Colugo Camp?  Each

Local Japanese-style patisserie Nesuto opens first café in Orchard with new savoury exclusives

The brainchild of local pastry chef Alicia Wong, Nesuto has grown from its first outlet on Tras Street to Jewel Changi Airport, and now Ion Orchard as Café Nesuto. Even after the usual lunch rush, we arrive to find the still brand-new Café Nesuto still alive with the hum of hungry shoppers and clinking cutlery. Photograph: Café Nesuto Set on the fourth floor of Ion Orchard, the open-concept café frames shoppers and diners like a living picture. The first thing that catches our eye upon entering the front is the cake rack – a kaleidoscope of bakes that practically demand a second visit for dessert. But this isn’t just your usual Nesuto patisserie. This Ion Orchard outpost marks Café Nesuto’s first foray into savoury dishes, offering thoughtfully crafted meals alongside its signature sweets. It’s the kind of spot that turns a casual coffee run into a full-on indulgent pause in the day. Photograph: Café Nesuto   When it comes to the savouries, the Ion Orchard-exclusive braised oxtail open-face pie ($16) easily steals the show – tender, sweet oxtail layered with creamy potato sauce on a flaky homemade crust. Chef Alicia shares, with a knowing smile, that extra thought went into perfecting that crust, made to hold its crunch for up to 40 minutes. We put it to the test, and 30 minutes on, it's still satisfyingly warm and crunchy – ideal for takeaway, whether for a picnic or a quick lunch on the go.  Photograph: Café Nesuto Dessert offerings remain irresistible. Canadian indie band Men I Trust is returning to Singapore in January 2026 with two new albums

Men I Trust aren’t just coming back – they’re gliding in on the kind of dream-pop wave you’ve had on repeat for years. The Canadian indie trio – Emma Proulx, Jessy Caron and Dragos Chiriac – have built a cult following with tracks like 'Show Me How' and 'Numb', which have racked up over 50 and 20 million views on YouTube, respectively. Add to that a staggering seven million monthly listeners on Spotify, and it’s clear their hazy, self-produced sound has struck a global chord. When it comes to the band's live shows, they’re just as mesmerising. Fans in Singapore still gush about their luminous 2023 set at the Esplanade, where the band’s hypnotic melodies and lush soundscapes felt both intimate and transcendent. Now they’re back with a fresh chapter – not one but two new albums, Equus Asinus and Equus Caballus. Expect a setlist that slips seamlessly between beloved favourites and brand-new gems, delivering a show that’s as gentle as it is stirring.   Photograph: Men I Trust   When is Men I Trust performing in Singapore?  Save the date: the band is set to perform on January 26, 2026 as part of their Equus Tour. Ne-Yo, Rain and Henry Lau to headline the biggest indoor New Year's festival in Singapore

Ne-Yo, Rain and Henry Lau to headline the biggest indoor New Year's festival in Singapore

Singapore is going all out to welcome 2026, and it’s doing it in the comfort of air-con. Say hello to Singland Festival, the city’s first large-scale indoor New Year’s bash, taking over Marina Bay Sands from December 31 to January 3 with a star-studded line-up that’s basically a dream playlist brought to life.  The festival promises an explosive blend of world-class acts, next-level stage production, and an immersive 360-degree LED Mega-Sing-Along experience that’ll have the whole crowd belting in unison. Expect everything from electrifying K-pop and soulful R&B to heartfelt ballads, genre-defying pop, and even razor-sharp stand-up comedy across multiple days and stages. Headliners? Only some of the biggest names in music. K-pop legend Rain kicks things off on New Year’s Eve with the kind of stage spectacle only he can deliver. Mandopop powerhouse Terry Lin takes over on January 2 with his soaring ballads, while multi-talented Canadian singer-songwriter Henry Lau charms the crowd on January 3 before handing things over to none other than Grammy Award-winner Ne-Yo. Don’t miss the mega R&B superstar serenading Singapore with smooth classics like ‘So Sick’ and ‘Miss Independent’, alongside the kind of slick moves that remind you he’s still got it.  But this isn’t just about the music. Singland is pulling out all the stops with a festival village full of things to do. Think Wishing Wall, interactive countdown clocks, giant LED installations, Instagram-worthy photo ops, fun games,
I tried Singapore’s first in-world Monopoly adventure game – here’s how the trail went

I tried Singapore’s first in-world Monopoly adventure game – here’s how the trail went

I’d like to say I’m an outdoorsy person, with hikes being a major part of my itinerary wherever I go. So when I heard Hasbro’s iconic game Monopoly ditching the board and teaming up with award-winning experience company Hidden for the streets with Monopoly: Hidden Singapore, I laced up my trainers and decided to see if I could trade Park Lane for park walks, and actually enjoy the slog.    Photograph: Monopoly: Hidden Singapore   What is the Monopoly: Hidden Singapore? Available now for a limited time only, Monopoly: Hidden Singapore is basically an IRL version of the board game, but without the dice and jail time. The first installment is called Love, Lost & Found – a self-guided trail that stitches together tales of romance, heartbreak and human connection. Over about 90 minutes – or two hours if you, like me, get distracted taking photos – the trail transforms the familiar city into a playful, puzzle-packed adventure. The game runs entirely on WhatsApp, which means no clunky app downloads, and it’s open to both locals and tourists – I tried it on a foreign number and it worked like a charm. Once you’re connected, a chatbot – otherwise known as Void Deck Cat – will appear as your cheeky game master, feeding you puzzles to solve. Each puzzle takes you through historic neighbourhoods, cultural landmarks and overlooked corners of the city.   Photograph: Monopoly: Hidden Singapore   You’ll get a tote bag with some useful bits, but I’d still pack smart: a fully charged phone
