"As hotels, resorts, and restaurants scale up their use of these systems, the critical question becomes one of always-on performance. Can these automated solutions perform reliably, every time? The answer depends not only on the intelligent automation itself, but on the strength and resilience of the networks connecting them." At approximately 18:11 UTC on October 9, ThousandEyes observed a network-related incident affecting multiple Microsoft services, including Microsoft 365, Teams, and others. Our data indicates that the incident predominantly impacted users in the United States who were trying to access Microsoft services from AT&T’s network. ThousandEyes data showed significantly elevated packet loss between AT&T and Microsoft networks during the incident. Microsoft confirmed this was a network-related event and addressed the issue by rerouting impacted traffic. The event was fully resolved at 18:48 UTC. On October 9, at approximately 07:40 UTC, ThousandEyes began observing an issue affecting Microsoft Azure Front Door (AFD), the content delivery network (CDN) that front-ends many key services such as Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud management portals. The incident primarily impacted customers outside the United States, with users in EMEA and Asia experiencing more disruption. ThousandEyes detected significant packet loss within Microsoft's network, preventing successful connections to affected services. During the peak of the outage, requests frequently timed out or returned service-related errors. The service started to recover around 11:10 UTC, though intermittent issues continued until the issue fully resolved at approximately 13:10 UTC. Death, taxes, and digital disruptions. All are inevitable. But it's what we learn from them along the way to improve our resilience that matters. Many times what appears to be an application degradation can require correlation to multiple degrees of separation or more. Case in point app degradation due to subsea cable cuts. Learn about these outages and many more in the latest Cisco ThousandEyes Internet Report from Mike Hicks. https://www.downtownmelody.com/_x/bG5rZC5pbg/gQg_qUPw

🔐 The Great Cybersecurity Consolidation Debate: Are all-in-one platforms the future? https://www.downtownmelody.com/_x/bG5rZC5pbg/evvkzKPy With Palo Alto Networks' massive $25B CyberArk acquisition and Google Cloud's $32B Wiz deal dominating 2025, the cybersecurity landscape is clearly moving toward platform consolidation. But is bigger always better? Key insights from this deep-dive analysis: 💡 The platform play: Major players like Palo Alto Networks are building "platform-of-platforms" approaches, while Cisco, Zscaler, and Fortinet are doubling down on unified solutions 🤖 AI agent challenge: With AI deployments potentially creating "80 billion" new identities to manage, identity and access management (IAM/PAM) is becoming mission-critical ⚖️ The trade-off: Consolidated platforms promise faster detection and response, but risk losing best-of-breed capabilities if integration isn't seamless What the experts are saying: Allie Mellen from Forrester warns that poorly integrated tools can be worse than separate solutions Joe Vaccaro from Cisco ThousandEyes reports customers are "reducing their ticket count by over 90%" with AI-powered automation James Tucker from Zscaler notes that typical security processes involve 50-100 overlapping tools The verdict? Success depends on execution. As one expert puts it: "Palo Alto Networks needs to invest in ensuring its acquisitions are fully integrated into the platform seamlessly."
