1. Osip

Osip, Somerset
A field-to-table paradise, it’s no stretch of the imagination to call Osip the best restaurant in the UK right now. Unsurprisingly for a place run by a chef called Merlin, there’s something properly magical happening here; dishes are surprising without being confusing, and folksy without being arcane. It’s basically the culinary equivalent of The Wicker Man, but with a fresh-from-his-Third Space-workout Paul Mescal cast in the Edward Woodward role. Read the full review here.
Price: The tasting menu is £150 a head (and £95 for lunch).
Best for: Super seasonal fine dining, with foraged ingredients, world-class cheffing and a modern take on earthy British cuisine.
What to order: You don’t get much choice, but the tasting menu here always, always delivers.
