The best Halloween bars in NYC

The best Halloween bars in NYC

Look, every bar in New York City is gonna host a Halloween party—virtually everyone. You know what we’re talking about: fake webs, plastic jack o lantern tubs rattling with the hard candy nobody wants, a vinyl bat or two. It all goes right back into storage on November 1, then it’s business as usual. That is not what we’re talking about here.  RECOMMENDED: Guide to Halloween in NYC We want a Walpurgisnacht Weltanschauung going down to the very bones. Weird, ghoulish, eerie, off, odd–the strange and unusual all year long. Either that or they’ve pulled a Lon Chaney and completely transformed. Mind you, there are places where you can grab some food on this list, but we’re trying to narrow this to bars. But don’t worry, we’ve got range: heavy-metal horror, adorable witchiness, a creaky tavern that serves pot pie with a side of horrifying lore. Want Zombies? We got ‘em. Ghosts? Yup. Vampires? Covered. Anything within smelling distance of the Gowanus Canal automatically counts as representing Creature from the Black Lagoon, so we’re good there. If the Slaughtered Lamb hadn’t gotten hit by the silver bullet of rising rent, we’d have a werewolf, so we’re on the hunt for a replacement. We do have a slot open for mummies… Does anyone know of a revenge-for-disturbing-the-ancient-tomb themed dive? The point is: besides catering to the macabre, what ultimately unites the places below? They’re good bars. Visit any, and you’re sure to have a good time, even on a dreaded sunny day.
The 40 best Halloween songs of all time

The 40 best Halloween songs of all time

As the nights turn darker and the air feels cooler, it can only mean one thing: spooky season is upon us. The pumpkins are carved, the costume is finalised, and there’s only one thing left to sort out… a Halloween playlist that goes hard enough to have the afterlife dancing along too. When it comes to Halloween anthems, there are some stone cold classics that have soundtracked the spooky season for decades – we’re looking at you, ‘Thriller’ and ‘Ghostbusters’. But in recent years a new generation of pop ghouls have served up anthems befitting of All Hallows’ Eve. From Olivia Rodrigo’s ex-boyfriend bleeding her dry, to the bewitching melodies of Mother Monster, via the smooth tones of some immaculately styled K-Pop demons. Ironically, Halloween playlists have never felt more alive. The 13 best ramen restaurants in NYC

The 13 best ramen restaurants in NYC

Ramen is a format, not a fixed dish. Like a hamburger, it’s a canvas for expressing personality, skill and philosophy. Some places are obsessed with crafting their own noodles, while others buy them from a vendor. Some worship the egg; but it’s an afterthought for others. Should broth be subtle and salty or rich and spicy? And what about you? That à la carte menu is there for a reason, so are you going to throw a knob of cold butter in there, corn, mashed potatoes (yes, really)? The point is that there is no ‘correct’ bowl of ramen, just the one you love. So, below you won’t find the best per se, just the ones that impressed us for one reason or another. From finely-tuned specialists to crowd-pleasers, we’re casting as wide a net as possible. Some places go way outside the box, some hone the dish to a fine point. The only commonality is noodles, a bowl and soup. For that reason, in an effort to present some reasonable basis for comparison, we chose to look at each respective place’s standard and near-universally ubiquitous tonkatsu pork bowl, but made sure to include indications for vegetarians (and vegans where possible) so nobody’s left out. And in an effort to respect each restaurant’s point of view, we’ve broken each entry’s bowl down into its constituent parts: broth, noodles, chashu (or equivalent), veg, and egg. RECOMMENDED: The best restaurants in NYCBefore we get on with it: yes, there is indeed a correct way to eat ramen. First, take in the bowl, appreciate its gest
Restaurants in Red Hook: Where to eat in the Brooklyn neighborhood

Restaurants in Red Hook: Where to eat in the Brooklyn neighborhood

New York's history is very much alive in Red Hook. The waterfront neighborhood retains much of its industrial past as cavernous 19th-century warehouses commandeer entire blocks and several city streets retain weathered cobblestones. The unmistakable grit and relative isolation from the city at large have attracted makers, artists and small businesses as of late, giving the area an undeniable cool factor. Once vacant warehouses now serve as galleries and distilleries and restaurants are making their mark on the waterfront. It's for these reasons that Red Hook made our coolest neighborhood of 2025.  But once you finally make it out to Red Hook (it is still a bit of a trek to get there), you may be in need of some sustenance after your journey. Lucky for you, there is plenty to eat. Appropriately for a waterfront neighborhood, Red Hook's scene includes several seafood eateries, including an OG of the lobster roll game. However, the area sports a mix of old and new, as neighborhood-friendly eateries run the gamut from a 100-year-old sandwich shop to pint-sized eateries driven by the seasons. So next time you trek out to the Brooklyn waterfront, bring your appetite—you've got eating to do.  RECOMMENDED: Red Hook neighborhood guide September 2025: We couldn't just declare Red Hook the coolest neighborhood of 2025 without giving our best restaurants of the area a shake-up, now could we? This time around, we added some newcomers while also giving our tried and true their due. The best restaurants in NYC's midtown Manhattan

The best restaurants in NYC's midtown Manhattan

Midtown isn’t a destination; it’s where you end up between obligations. Nobody goes there on purpose—they come through a glass revolving door at 11:42am, late to their meeting or timed museum visit. The likelihood is that you’re in midtown because your family is visiting. They want to see a show or something. Well, with our help, you can power lunch them silly. Just don’t make eye contact with the work-shirts hunched over martini lunches, humming the 1% blues. The truth is that under the starch, glass, and car-choked avenues, midtown, like every other neighborhood in this city, plays home to a staggering diversity of cultures, ethnicities, interests, religions, socio-economic statuses, and every other thing. The point is that, no matter what you’re looking for and unlikely as it may seem, there’s a restaurant in midtown that ticks your boxes. So what we’ve got for you, intrepid sojourner, is a slew of options from the depths of food halls to the tippy top of the culinary mountain—all of them worthy of being one of the best restaurants in midtown. RECOMMENDED: The best restaurants in NYCSeptember 2025: Some places have moved, others closed, still more are exactly where we left them. It’s hard to sift through what makes a place worth recommending; beyond what we’ve listed here, there are a slew of other excellent restaurants worth your money and time but the thing is that we tried to narrow our selections down a bit to places that are exceptional, singular, unique–the kind of

The 16 very best coffee shops in NYC

Find your new favorite spot for a morning iced coffee or an afternoon matcha at these coffee shops, cafes and bakeries. They don’t just serve classic lattes and cappuccinos (although they do make some of the best in the city), they also serve incredible cocktails, breakfast sandwiches that rival the best bodega BEC, and coffee drinks made with inventive ingredients like sweet durian and boba. Carve a few minutes out on your morning commute or make a special trip to try the latest colorful drink that’s blowing up on the ‘gram—these are the 16 best coffee shops in NYC right now. RECOMMENDED: The best restaurants in NYC to book right now September 2025: For us, coffee shops are so much more than just a place to get bean water in a cup. Coffee spells community, especially in our concrete jungle, where third spaces are far and few between. In that vein, we added a new number one spot to the list that effortlessly blends lifestyle, coffee and community into one: Harlem's The Oma Shop II Coffee+ Lifestyle. Following suit with the motto "We don’t serve coffee, we serve community," Flatbush's Lips Cafe also made the list. The Danish coffee import with those cardamom buns, La Cabra, also made the list, as did the newly christened coffee shop located inside the Chrysler Building, WatchHouse. And, for fine coffee that still stays within our budget, we found one of the cheapest cups in the city at Casasalvo. We removed East One Coffee Roasters as it closed. We also removed Alita Cafe, Bl

The best rooftop restaurants in NYC for dining with a view

Koʻa Kea Resort on Poʻipu Beach

Koʻa Kea Resort on Poʻipu Beach

4 out of 5 stars
Sometimes you just need a vacation, and no, I don’t mean a vacation where itineraries are so jammed packed that going over your step count is a guarantee—I mean a vacation where the hardest question is, should I lounge by the pool or by the ocean?  Well, if this kinda thinking sounds like it’s just what the doctor ordered, then a visit to the Koʻa Kea Resort on Poʻipu Beach is most certainly recommended. Located on the southern tip of Kauai, the intimate resort is a must if you’re in serious need of some proper rest and relaxation. Founded in 2009, the boutique property is an oceanside retreat for stellar service, farm-to-table dining and spa services that all tap into the spirit of aloha—what more could you want? Why stay at Koʻa Kea Resort on Poʻipu Beach? The purpose of a visit to a Koʻa Kea Resort on Poʻipu Beach is a simple one: to relax. And it is quite easy to accomplish that, just one look at the outdoor courtyard and you’ll soon be transported. The lush communal area is a welcoming sight, peppered with all manner of flora and fauna and swaying palm trees. It centers around a curved pool decorated with realistic-looking lava rocks and a hot tub, circled with a mix of lounge chairs and cabana beds. It’s easy to grab one and post up for the day, only taking a break to saunter over to the tiki-thatched hotel bar for drinks and bites. And if said sauntering is too much of a trip, you can always order tableside thanks to handy QR codes found at each chair.  However, the be

JJ Johnson’s community cookout is back in NYC this year

James Beard Award winner and chef behind New York's FieldTrip, JJ Johnson also wears the title of cultural tastemaker quite well, thanks to his all-out bash, The Cookout. Last year, the chef held his first cookout event in New York, casually closing out one of the city's top food festivals, Food Network New York City Food and Wine Fest. This year, he is doing it yet again, and you are most definitely invited. On October 18, Johnson and his crew are bringing The Cookout back to NYC. Hosted by Johnson and Angela Yee, the spirited cookout will celebrate Black culture and music all day long. But it wouldn't be a cookout without food, now would it? Answering your question of "Who all gon' to be there?", expect a killer list of established and up-and-coming Black talent, including fine foods from chef Preston Clark of Bar Mercer and Lure Fishbar, Caribbean eats courtesy of Osei “Picky” Blackett, freshly shucked oysters from head "mothershucker" Ben “Moody” Harney of The Real Mothershuckers and sweet, handcradted ice cream treats from Petrushka Bazin Larsen and Nick Larsen of Sugar Hill Creamery. And in between eats, groove to live DJs and more musical guests. Plus, this is a cookout that gives back: 10 percent of all ticket proceeds will be donated to Rethink Food.  General admission tickets start at $174 and include all-day access, unlimited food and drink and open seating. Priced at $231, VIP includes early entry, priority service at chef stations, reserved seating and a complim
F&F Restaurant and Bar

F&F Restaurant and Bar

4 out of 5 stars
Back in 2018, Frank Falcinelli and Frank Castronovo (also known as The Franks) told Eater that their intention when closing their longstanding German-style eatery, Prime Meats, was to replace it with a “timeless neighborhood restaurant." And they made good on that promise, opening Frank's Wine Bar, enticing those over natural wines and light bites. Yet after five years, the space on 465 Court Street turned over yet again, this time to give their slice-haven next door, F&F Pizzeria, a chance to grow. The resulting F&F Restaurant and Bar has easily fit right in, becoming a favorite of Carroll Gardens and New York at large for its comforting pizzas, pies and farm fresh finds.  The vibe: Relics from days long past still exist at F&F Restaurant and Bar, the black marble sign etched with "Prime Meats" that once sat behind the bar is now perched on the second-floor landing above the dining room. Yet, much like its previous iterations, the restaurant remains as homey and warm as they come, with gold-tinned ceilings and soft globe-light fixtures that illuminate the handsome, dark-wood-and-brick-heavy dining room. It could easily serve as an elevated place to bring the parents or double as a date night if your date likes good pizza (and if they don't, then why are you seeing them anyway?).   The food: To give you any indication of how good the pizza is here, Chris Bianco of Una Pizza Napoletana—that owner behind the best pizzeria in the world—is a forever fan. Did Bianco also have a ha
Amber Georgia Wine Fair

Amber Georgia Wine Fair

The original birthplace of wine? Not what you're thinking. While France and Italy may come to mind, it is actually the country of Georgia that lays claim to the title. According to the Georgian National Museum, the area's winemaking past dates back to 6,000 B.C., and is still going strong today. Thirsty? This Georgian wine festival invites all for a taste of history.  On November 8th, over 30 winemakers from the Republic of Georgia will come together for a first-of-its-kind wine fair, the Amber Georgia Wine Fair. Spearheaded by Zurab Mgvdliashvili and Iago Bitarishvili of the Natural Wine Association of Georgia, National Wine Agency of Georgia and Alexis Percival of New York's Ruffian Wine Bar, the festival held at Brooklyn's Industry City will honor and celebrate Georgian amber wine and the region's impact on global winemaking as a whole. Producers and Georgian natural winemakers will be on-site, pouring tasters from all around the region, and the cultural event will also include food and music, designed to bring a taste of Tbilisi to New York.  Tickets are on sale now. General admission is $50 per ticket, while trade tickets are available for $25. There is an afterparty that GA goers can buy as a bundle for $70. Tickets to the trade after-party are $45. The Great Community Bake Sale

The Great Community Bake Sale

Natasha Pickowicz decided to help her community the best way she knew how: by hosting a bake sale. Since 2016, the James Beard Award finalist and cookbook author has been throwing the community-minded bake sale, raising over $200,000 for local non-profits and organizations. This month, the bake sale is back, powering the people via pastries. The Great Community Bake Sale is back on October 18. Pickowicz, in partnership with Care of Chan and Lindsey Peckham, will gather over 100 of New York's most celebrated bakers and pastry chefs for a bake sale that gives back. Each baker will be on-site selling their limited-time pastries, including Sophia Roe, Carla Lalli Music, Camari Mick and Kelly Mencin of Radio Bakery. And everyone is welcome, as the bake sale includes gluten-free and vegan goodies from Bub's Bakery and Knead Love Bakery, plus savory finds from Chez Ma Tante and Eel Bar. Even Chinatown's Elbow Bread is hosting a hot dog stand.  All in the name of a good cause, this year's proceeds will go toward four non-profits that are rooted in improving institutional food systems, food insecurities and immigrant rights. Proceeds will benefit Heart of Dinner, Make the Road New York, One Love Community Fridge and The Teaching Kitchen at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House. Admission is free, so all you need to do is show up at 180 Maiden Lane, New York, NY 10038. National Dessert Day at Time Out Market New York Union Square

National Dessert Day at Time Out Market New York Union Square

For some of us, having a dessert is an everyday occurrence. But turns out there is a designated day for that sort of thing, a.k.a. National Dessert Day on October 14. Now that you know it exists, we think it is best to celebrate, don't you? Lucky for you (and us), this local shortbread company has just the thing.  Located at the new Time Out Market New York, Union Square, Shortbread Society is ushering in National Dessert Day in the best way. The luxe shortbread business run by chef Scottish Francis—of MasterChef, Chopped and Netflix's Snack vs. Chef fame—is dropping bogo deals on his sweets all day long. There are two flavors on rotation: the Cinnamon Roll with white glaze swirls and the S'mores made with a base of graham cracker shortbread, highland caramel, milk chocolate and a torched topping on mini marshmallows. And because it's buy one, get one, you won't have to choose between them. The offer is available all day; just walk up to the coffee/pastry window and get snacking!
New York City AeroPress Championship

New York City AeroPress Championship

Five events. Five cities. All to find the best name in coffee. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the iconic, plunger-style AeroPress Coffee Maker. To celebrate such a momentous milestone, the brand is launching the American AeroPress Championship. Five cities across the nation, including Austin, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Seattle, will put forth their best roasteries, all vying for the title of best brew in the country. And it all goes down this month.   On October 12, roasters battling for the best brew will gather at Atolye Venue & Bar in Brooklyn, where heavy hitters in the coffee scene will go head to head, including Parlor Coffee, Regalia Coffee, SEY Coffee and Stumptown Coffee. Here’s how to celebrate Halloween 2025 all week long in Brooklyn

No one does Halloween quite like New York. In celebration of the spookiest night of the year, over 50,000 people turn out for the annual Village Halloween Parade, 7,000 pumpkins come to life for The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze and even our fine orchestras get a spine-tinglingly scary spin. Heck, even Fido has his very own dog parade. And with the holiday landing on a Friday this year, a full weekend celebration of all things spooky and scary awaits. But if you are still scrambling on how to spend Halloween this year, this Dumbo food hall and rooftop has a full week of scary good fun to get you in the mood.  RECOMMENDED: The best Halloween events for 2025 in NYC The ultimate Halloween destination, Time Out Market New York, Dumbo, is celebrating the holiday all week long. The chefs behind Frenchette opened a buzzy restaurant inside one of New York's oldest Off-Broadway theatres

The lights are finally on at New York’s longest-continuously-operating Off-Broadway theater.   Two years ago, the independent film and television studio, A24 (the studio behind Moonlight and Everything Everywhere All At Once), bought Cherry Lane Theater. Established in 1924, the stage of the Greenwich Village landmark has featured the works of 20th-century playwrights and modern day talent such as Barbara Streisand, Bea Arthur and Cicely Tyson. On September 8, the iconic red doors opened once again, inviting all over live theater and entertainment, including programming featuring Spike Lee, Jodie Foster and Jerrod Carmichael. But beyond the new chairs, spiffy sound system and retractable movie screens, there is another feature that is sure to catch the eye. And that is the full bar and restaurant found inside. Located inside the lobby sits the newest addition to the long-storied theater, Wild Cherry. The supper club is the work of chefs Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr. The minds behind some of New York's best French restaurants, including Frenchette and Le Rock, the two also revived Le Veau d’Or last summer, one of the city's oldest operating French restaurants. Seemingly having a knack for taking something old and making it new again, the newly minted restaurant inside the storied space is ripe for pre- and post-dinner experience and for anyone who walks through the door, regardless of whether they have a ticket or not.  RECOMMENDED: One of New York’s oldest operating French restau

New York was just ranked the worst state in America to have a dog, per a baffling new study

New Yorkers love their dogs, so much so that you can just as easily find them on the street as you can on the trains in backpacks and even serving as a muse for our museums. But apparently our love is just not enough as according to a surprising new study, our state was ranked the worst state in America to have one.  RECOMMENDED: The 10 best dog-friendly restaurants in NYC right now A new 2025 study has revealed the best and worst places to own a dog across all 50 U.S. states. Conducted by Know Better Pet Food, a family-operated cat and dog food business located in British Columbia, Canada, the study analyzed every U.S. state based on green space, pet-friendly rentals, access to vets and overall dog ownership rates. North Dakota took the number one spot, with Montana and New Hampshire leading the pack at number two and three. But New York? Our fair state came in last at number 50. So why did New York rank so low? According to the study, our high-density housing and small apartments are a factor, in addition to a lack of green spaces. And while we lean on dog parks and walking services to ensure our pets stay active, they come at a cost, making New York one of the most expensive places to own a pet. “Urban living can make pet ownership more challenging,” said a spokesperson from Know Better Pet Food. “Our data shows that access to space, affordability, and pet-friendly housing are key factors in how enjoyable dog ownership feels day-to-day—and that’s where New York struggles
Four NYC cocktail dens made the 2025 World’s Best Bars list, the most in all of North America

Four NYC cocktail dens made the 2025 World’s Best Bars list, the most in all of North America

Last month, The World’s 50 Best dropped their 51-100 list. Surprising no one, several of New York’s finest cocktail bars made the list. Yesterday, the publication revealed the rest of the rankings, and New York continued to represent with four bars making the prestigious global lineup including a new addition to the roster.   Superbueno was the highest ranking bar for the U.S., coming in at number 12. The Mexican-American bar run by longtime industry vet Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Jimenez was praised for its “technical mastery meets traditional Mexican ingredients,” evident in drinks such as its Salted Plum & Tamarind Milk and Mole Negroni. The bar is currently the highest ranked for the 50 Best Bars for North America, coming in at number 2.   Photograph: Courtesy Sip & Guzzle| Owners Shingo Gokan and Steve Schneider A new entry to the list is Greenwich Village’s Sip & Guzzle. The bar received the Three Cents Best New Opening designation, its number 39 ranking coming in at the highest position of any that have opened during the voting period. Shingo Gokan and Steve Schneider's bi-level cocktail bar was recognized for its Japanese beers, highballs and classically driven cocktails at Guzzle and its “raft of Japanese-accented crafted cocktails” at Sip. The recognition only adds to the rolodex of rankings for Sip & Guzzle as the bar currently holds the title as the best cocktail bar in the U.S., awarded by the Spirited Awards. This Lower East Side bar was named the best new cocktail bar in the U.S.

Last week, some of the best cocktail movers and shakers in the scene flew down to New Orleans for the annual Tales of the Cocktail conference. Gathering international and national talent from around the world, the weeklong event featured seminars, conversations and spirited demos, tastings and pop-ups. As a grand finale, the festivities came to a close with the 18th annual Spirited Awards. Held on July 25, the premier awards honored excellence in the drink industry and recognized professionals, organizations and establishments shaping the hospitality community. Since 2007, the awards have recognized beverage professionals, products and venues worldwide. This year, New York won big, as the Best New U.S. Cocktail Bar, presented by Diageo Bar Academy, went to one of our favorites: Superbueno, which we named as the top bar in NYC right now. That in part goes to owner Ignacio “Nacho” Jimenez. Sharing his heritage in a cocktail glass, Jimenez’s menu includes pasilla chile-infused vodka, martinis tinged with tajín and blackish-purple-hued margaritas blended with huitlacoche, the truffle of Mexico. Also holding the title maestro de ceremonias, Jimenez keeps the vibe going, DJing behind the booth and pouring mezcal shots well into the early h

This Michelin-recognized Thai restaurant is now open in Long Island City—and it brought a speakeasy with it

During the height of the pandemic in May of 2020, a trio of friends, chef Chidensee Wattanawongwat, Kitiya Mokkarrat and Supatta Banklouy opened up a restaurant in the East Village. Named Soothr, pronounced ‘sood,’ the quaint restaurant that once only served noodles for takeout and delivery soon began to expand its offerings as the world began to open up, incorporating generational recipes from their shared but respective upbringings in Thailand. It seems their Sukhothai-style tom yum noodle soup and curries found good grounding, as the buzzy restaurant has become a local and national favorite, even earning a nod from the Michelin Guide. And now, the same team is doing it yet again and then some, this time in Long Island City.   RECOMMENDED: The 18 best Thai restaurants in NYC Photograph: Courtesy Pratya Jankong| The Garden dining room at Soothr LIC Landing at 25-20 43rd Avenue, Soothr opened its doors in Long Island City on September 24. Much more spacious than the East Village location, the upgraded digs designed by Mokkarrat channel the energy of Yaowarat, Bangkok’s Chinatown. Resembling a Hong Kong-style diner known as cha chaan teng, the entryway welcomes all with checkered floors, terrazzo tables and a mahjong-style jade bar. Passing through the archway leads to The Garden, a calming scene with birdcage light fixtures that hang next to the skylight, all illuminating the beautiful pine tree underneath it. In contrast, the Red Zone brings the drama. Transporting you to

New York’s latest Indian fine-dining den now has a secret cocktail bar hidden underneath it

Over the summer, Houston’s only Michelin-starred Indian restaurant found a second home in NYC. Translating to traveler from the Hindi and Urdu word, Musaafer is a culmination of corporate executive chef Mayank Istwal’s 100-day journey across India, where he picked up techniques, stories and subsequently dishes along the way. His resulting 72-hour cooked Dal married with its grand “labyrinth-like layout” of a space housed within a Houston shopping mall earned the restaurant a Michelin Star on Houston's inaugural listing.  This August, the restaurant continued the journey, but up north, opening a second location right here in Tribeca. Bringing its opulence with it, the resulting 10,000 square-foot, bi-level space is a sight to see, from a soaring dining room that mimics the breathtaking masterpiece of the Taj Mahal to the mirrored, semi-private dining named the Sheesh Mahal. And as of last month, the restaurant’s underground bar is now ready to take you on another trip, this time exploring India via the glass. On September 10, the Musaafer team unveiled the basement-level bar Saaqi. The name, which translates to “one who serves wine," nods to the cupbearers of ancient Persia who once served wine to the royalty of the Mughal courts. Mirroring the opulence of the long-gone clientele, the 88-seat venture follows suit with grand portraits and paintings, 16th-century brickwork and low-slung chairs and couches wrapped in velvet. The showstopper of them all, however, goes to the all-g

Miami's most popular Mediterranean restaurant just landed in Flatiron

Miami’s darling of the restaurant scene has to go to Motek. And how could it not, it does translate to sweetheart in Hebrew, after all.  Born in The Magic City, the kosher Mediterranean restaurant has won over a stretch of South Florida and then some, as their falafel, kebabs and shakshuka can be found across the state, with outposts in Coral Gables, Brickell, Downtown Miami, South Beach, Miami Beach, Aventura and Boca Raton. But for the first time, the team ventured outside the panhandle with eyes firmly set on the Big Apple.   After months of anticipation, Motek (928 Broadway, New York, NY 10010) has found a home in the Flatiron district, flying in on September 15. The founder behind the Mediterranean concept, Charlie Levy knew it was time to introduce Motek back to his second home.   “I spent 20 years in New York before Miami became home,” said Levy in a press release. “Miami is often called the sixth borough of New York, so expanding here feels like a natural next step. We’ve built a loyal following in Florida, and after countless requests to bring Motek to New York, now is the right time.” Photograph: Courtesy of Motek| Motek's glowing interior is accented with yellow accents and greenery that twists around the restaurant Motek has brought a slice of the Sunshine State to New York, quite literally. The team behind Nairobi's top speakeasy is coming to New York for the first time ever

This week, you can visit Kenya’s capital without ever leaving NYC.  One of Nairobi’s top speakeasies, Hero Bar, is flying into town from now until Thursday, October 2. For its first-ever arrival in New York, the bar will be making a superhero landing at one of the city’s finest cocktail institutions, Dante.  The Kenyan-based bar, hidden on the rooftop of the four-star Trademark Hotel, is ripped right out of the pages of a comic book. With colorful murals and homages to heroes, both real and fictional, the cocktail menu leans into the theme even further, broken up by “Sensei Sips” to “Sidekicks.” It seems the bar is the hero we’ve all been searching for, as the hidden cocktail lounge was listed on The World's 50 Best Bars annual ranking, coming in at number 69.  Photograph: Courtesy of Hero Bar| The colorful murals at Hero Bar The bar’s arrival marks the finale of Dante’s Legends Series. In celebration of the bar’s 110th anniversary, the Greenwich Village bar has invited a handful of legendary, international talents for limited-time takeovers, including London's American Bar at The Savoy, Europe’s oldest cocktail bar, Harry’s New York Bar, and Singapore’s Long Bar, which has long been credited for the Singapore Sling.   “The final iteration of the Legends Series is a significant one,” said Linden Pride, principal of Dante. “After hosting five world-renowned bars at Dante over the course of the last eight months, we’re thrilled to end our series with an important milestone an

This NYC restaurant was just named the best in all of North America

On Thursday, September 25, chefs, restaurateurs and hospitality workers gathered in Las Vegas for the announcement of North America’s 50 Best Restaurants. A first for the 50 Best brand, the inaugural listing considered restaurants from across the continent, including the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. And for the first time out of the gate, a New York restaurant nabbed the top honor.   The number one spot for North America’s 50 Best Restaurants went to the fine Korean restaurant, Atomix. The Nomad area restaurant, led by couple JP and Ellia Park, was recognized for its “well-paced 12-course tasting menu of Korean-based plates, featuring world-class flavour and texture combinations.” The publication went on to note that the restaurant’s combination of food, drink and design set to “forge a new narrative for Korean cuisine across the globe.” This only adds to a series of accolades for Atomix as the restaurant is currently ranked number 12 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, the highest North American restaurant on the list.   Photograph: Courtesy of Diane Kang| Interior of Atomix But that’s not all. New York dominated the listing with 13 restaurants in total, including Atomix, topping the list. Number nine and ten went to top French restaurants of the scene: Eric Ripert’s Le Bernardin and Le Veau d’Or, the recently revived restaurant by Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson. Williamsburg's critically acclaimed wine bar The Four Horsemen ranked at number 15 and Jody Williams and Rita Sodi
