One of my favorite restaurant experiences in Ha Noi. The broth is clean, light, and super flavorful. It's a no frills bowl that will blow your mind away. The ambiance.. is so special. You're literally eating inside her own living room which makes it feel very intimate and one of a kind. Please visit, be respectful, and be ready to have the best meals in Hanoi
This was my first and most memorable meal in Hanoi. Never really liked Pho so I rarely eat it in my country (SG) but this was so freaking good. This must be what a loving grandma hug would have felt like. Warmed the cockles of my heart, super super comforting. It was mind blowing because it looked like a very simple dish with just a few ingredients but somehow the flavours of everything together just made it so incredibly delicious. The setting itself, being so humble and hidden, made the entire experience authentic. I felt like I was eating in someone’s house (I probably was, with the tv on my left and a bed on my right).
MUST try! Down an alleyway, up a staircase and into a living room. Served by a lovely woman in her home. Incredible experience.

Know before you go

  • Visit Phở Bưng Hàng Trống in the late afternoon when it is bustling but not too crowded
  • Be prepared to sit on makeshift seating or stand while enjoying your meal as there are no tables or chairs provided
  • Try using Google Translate if you have trouble communicating as English may not be widely spoken
  • Bring small change for payment as large notes might not always be accepted easily
